Engin EROGLU hosts a 2-day workshop in Kassel on the Future of Europe
This year’s edition of the yearly workshop organised by Engin Eroglu MEP in Kassel took place with over 40 members of Freie Wähler. The Workshop took place over 2 days and participants discussed the top policy challenges that Europe is facing: climate change, health policy, the economic recovery, immigration, the digital transition, the EU’s role in the world, the rule of law, and the importance of youth engagement and sport.
The workshop was opened by EDP Secretary General Sandro Gozi who stressed the importance of holding events like these throughout Europe and how crucial it was for Democrats across the EU to shape this process. “The goal of this event is not to fill up papers and for your ideas to be then forgotten about. Everything you say, write and propose during this workshop will be directly fed into the Conference on the Future of Europe’s process. We are part of the most pro-European group in the European Parliament, and that’s why we have so much energy to reform the Union for the better”, Engin Eroglu added in his opening remarks.
Frédéric Petit, Deputy Secretary General of the EDP, gave the keynote address that kicked off the event: “We need to think of borders as areas that we are responsible for. It defines where I am responsible until. I feel at home in Paris, Krakow, Weimar, Kassel... We need to continue to nurture this. Europe is a large area, a big geographical space, and that means that it is a huge responsibility for us as Europeans”.
The weekend also included a joint session between Engin Eroglu and Tobias Gotthardt, Member of the Committee of Regions and Chairman of its Committee on Federal and European Affairs and Regional Relations of the Bavarian Parliament.
The results of this EDP event have been uploaded onto the digital platform of the Conference on the Future of Europe. Another edition of this workshop will take place in December 2022.
