The EU agrees on creating a fairer level playing field for the road transport sector.
Last night the European Parliament, the European Commission and the European Council reached an agreement on the so-called Mobility Package. Renew Europe Group MEPs managed to negotiate a very balanced agreement aiming at the improvements and harmonisation of rules and creating a fairer level playing field for the road transport sector.
Basque MEP Izaskun BILBAO BARANDICA pointed out on posting of drivers: “Our Union needed this agreement, which puts an end to unilateral responses to the problems of a key sector to the competitiveness of our economy. We have a foundation for finishing to social dumping, improving conditions for professionals, contributing to road safety and supporting digitisation and de-carbonisation. A good deal for Europe.”
Tras años de trabajo y casi 10 horas de negociación final hemos cerrado ACUERDO. Este último trílogo me ha cogido en Panamá pero con el cambio horario lo he podido seguir desde allí, un paquete fundamental para el sector de transporte por carretera. @eajpnv @RenewEurope @PDE_EDP https://t.co/PqR6KC1pSo— Izaskun Bilbao (@IzaskunBilbaoB) December 12, 2019
