EDP MEPs tell us why they chose to fight for Europe

"Languages, cultures, regional differences and local initiatives must be cherished because they are Europe’s strongest asset."

Új Kezdet’s idea of a "Social Contract" federating centrist Hungarian opposition parties

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

This autumn, our Hungarian member Új Kezdet (New Start) developed a detailed political agreement for democratic Hungarian political forces with an aim to get rid of Orban's quasi-authoritarian regime. It also serves as a detailed roadmap to reach this goal. It has been called "Social Contract" which might remind us about the title of Jean Jacques Rousseau's famous book, not merely by chance...

All Hungarian opposition parties and dignitaries have been invited to join it. The minimal possible result of this ambitious initiative should be the integration of centrist and moderate right-wing opposition players. Due to the rapidly escalating pandemic situation, its public kick-off event to be held on 18th of November has been cancelled.

Nevertheless, the first on-line signings by interested parties are expected to be done during the next couple of weeks.
