Urkullu in Brussels for a « building of Europe from bottom to top »

The President of the Government of the Basque Country Iñigo Urkullu met with the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels. “Lehendakari” Urkullu is the first head of a regional government to be received by President Juncker. He defended the idea put forward by the European Democratic Party of a "Europe more social, endowed with a soul".

Mr Urkullu presented to the President of the European Commission the reality of the socio-economic successes of the Basque Country and explained to him the "European agenda" of the Basque Country and the wish to see the presence of nations such as the Basque Country included in the reflection "White Paper on the Future of Europe ". He insisted on his commitment to social cohesion and humanitarian corridors for the reception of refugees, among other things.
Finally, Mr Urkullu invited Mr Juncker to visit a site of the Juncker Plan established in the Basque Country.
