On the 3rd of September, our EDP members of the European Parliament gathered in the historic and picturesque setting of the fortress of Namur, a magnificent structure that proudly overlooks the Meuse and Sambre rivers. This retreat, graciously organized and hosted by our affiliated party, Les Engagés, provided a unique opportunity for our MEPs to step away from the bustling corridors of parliamentary life and engage in meaningful dialogue in a setting conducive to reflection and collaboration.
The day commenced with an introduction from our General Secretary, Sandro Gozi, who set a tone of openness and ambition, emphasizing the importance of this retreat not only as a moment of respite but also as an essential occasion for collective strategic planning for the new parliamentary term. Following this, Alessio De Giorgi, our head of communication, took to the stage to deliver a comprehensive presentation on communication strategies that are vital for effectively conveying our priorities to both constituents and the wider European populace.
This presentation was not merely a lecture; it acted as a springboard for discussion, prompting our MEPs to articulate their visions and reflect on their individual and collective responsibilities in the legislative landscape. The gathering created an interactive platform where ideas flowed freely, allowing MEPs to share their insights and foster a robust exchange of viewpoints.
Throughout this prolonged and engaging debate, the central themes that emerged included democracy, the welfare of individuals, and pressing social issues that reflect the values and aspirations of Europe’s diverse citizenry. The rich discussions were not confined to theoretical frameworks; instead, they delved deep into tangible priorities such as social justice, environmental sustainability, and the need for inclusive policies that resonate with the everyday lives of people throughout the European Union. The retreat thus served not only as a strategic meeting but also as a moment to reaffirm their commitment to serving the public with integrity and dedication.
In conclusion, the retreat at the fortress of Namur was more than just a gathering; it was a vital step in laying the groundwork for a collaborative and effective parliamentary term. As our MEPs returned to their respective roles, they did so armed with renewed perspectives and a shared commitment to addressing the social challenges ahead, bolstered by the rich exchanges that had taken place.
Thank you Namur! ????????????
