A winegrower by profession in Pic Saint Loup in Hérault, a French department, Irène Tolleret is deeply committed to promoting the richness of her region's vineyards. She fought for the extension of the Pic Saint-Loup geographical area. Co-founder of the European Food Forum and also vice-president of Leader France, she has repeatedly supported Europe's commitment to the development of the Occitanie region through concrete projects on energy transition, economic development, innovation and solidarity. A member of the European Parliament since 2019, she serves on the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) and as substitute member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM). A member of the Delegation for relations with Japan (D-JP), she is also a substitute member of the Delegation for relations with Palestine (DPAL) and of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (DMED). She is co-president of the intergroup: Wine, Spirits and Quality Products and a founding member of the European Food Forum. Before being elected to the European Parliament, she was from 2017-2019 Councillor for Hérault where she was in charge of agriculture and European and mayor of Fontanès from 2014-2019. She was also a member of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup Community Council as a vice-president in charge of European affairs.
