Die EU muss die Beschäftigungsprobleme in den Regionen in äußerster Randlage angehen

Heute Nachmittag erläuterte Max Orville im Ausschuss für Beschäftigung und soziale Angelegenheiten seine Stellungnahme als Berichterstatter zur Strategie der Europäischen Union für die Regionen in äußerster Randlage. Mit diesem Text möchte er den für diese Gebiete wesentlichen Fragen, nämlich der Sozial- und Beschäftigungspolitik, den gebührenden Platz einräumen.

Die Regionen in äußerster Randlage sind mit denselben sozialen Problemen konfrontiert wie die Regionen des sogenannten Kontinentaleuropas, doch wird die Situation insbesondere durch die Abgelegenheit und die Insellage verschärft.

Fighting unemployment, especially youth unemployment, must be a priority.  He therefore called for better communication on the possibilities of using European funds and tools such as the ESF+ and the European Youth Guarantee. In a very concrete way, he would like to see a digital one-stop shop set up, bringing together all local stakeholders such as the private sector, universities and local authorities. The aim of this one-stop shop would be to help young people find their first job or become entrepreneurs.

He also wants the EU to pay more attention to the impoverishment of women in the outermost regions. Acting to empower women financially is, in his view, the most effective way of combating insecurity. Thus, by promoting appropriate training and stable, high-quality jobs, it will enable women to provide for themselves in the long term.

A stimulus is therefore needed to create jobs and develop skills in these territories. This is exactly what he is calling for with the establishment of social free zones in the outermost regions.
