Prévot ha iniziato la sua carriera politica nel 2004 come direttore politico del cdH (Centro Democratico Umanista) a soli 26 anni. Eletto deputato federale nel 2007 e deputato vallone nel 2009, è diventato il leader del gruppo cdH nel Parlamento vallone. Nel 2012, è stato eletto Sindaco di Namur, diventando la persona più giovane a ricoprire questa carica. In seguito è stato Vicepresidente del Governo vallone e Ministro dei Lavori Pubblici, della Sanità, dell'Azione Sociale e del Patrimonio, prima di dimettersi nel 2017 per concentrarsi sul suo ruolo di Sindaco. Nel 2019, è stato eletto Presidente del cdH e nel 2022 ha guidato la sua trasformazione in un nuovo movimento politico guidato dai cittadini e ribattezzato “Les Engagés”.
