Pavlos Mylonas is a journalist by profession. He was and is a Member of Parliament for the Limassol constituency under the banner of the Citizens’ Alliance (June 2016-May 2017) – then a member party of the EDP -, Independent (May 2017-May 2018) and since May 2018 under the banner of the Democratic Party (DIKO). DIKO is a political party that was founded in Cyprus in 1976. Mylonas has been the Spokesperson of DIKO since September 2018. He is also close to our Cypriot affiliate member, Citizens’ Platform. Furthermore, he is a member of the House Standing Committee on Defence Affairs, the House Standing Committee on Educational Affairs and Culture, the House Standing Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, the House Standing Committee on Institutions, Merit and the Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman) and the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs.

Brussels, 14 January 2025 – Ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 (11 June – 19 July 2026), which will be hosted in part in the United States, the European Democratic Party (EDP) has sent a formal letter to key European and international authorities calling for clear, binding and publicly verifiable measures to protect European citizens travelling to the tournament.
The statement issued yesterday by the African Union in response to the United States’ withdrawal from key multilateral institutions deserves close attention also in Europe. The African Union has issued a clear and responsible warning: suspending funding and participation in United Nations bodies risks weakening peacebuilding, development, humanitarian action and the protection of the most vulnerable. It has done so in a balanced yet firm manner, reaffirming the central role of multilateralism at a time of profound global instability.
On Monday, 15 December, in Bitburg, over 300 citizens took part in an event organised by the European Democratic Party with MEP Joachim Streit and journalist Jan Fleischhauer on the role of Germany and Europe in global crises.
