Pavlos Mylonas is a journalist by profession. He was and is a Member of Parliament for the Limassol constituency under the banner of the Citizens’ Alliance (June 2016-May 2017) – then a member party of the EDP -, Independent (May 2017-May 2018) and since May 2018 under the banner of the Democratic Party (DIKO). DIKO is a political party that was founded in Cyprus in 1976. Mylonas has been the Spokesperson of DIKO since September 2018. He is also close to our Cypriot affiliate member, Citizens’ Platform. Furthermore, he is a member of the House Standing Committee on Defence Affairs, the House Standing Committee on Educational Affairs and Culture,  the House Standing Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, the House Standing Committee on Institutions, Merit and the Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman) and the House Standing Committee on Internal Affairs.

The African Union has issued a clear and responsible warning: suspending funding and participation in United Nations bodies risks weakening peacebuilding, development, humanitarian action and the protection of the most vulnerable. It has done so in a balanced yet firm manner, reaffirming the central role of multilateralism at a time of profound global instability.
