Sandro Gozi ist Generalsekretär der Europäischen Demokratischen Partei. Er wurde 2006 in das italienische Parlament gewählt und war von 2014 bis 2018 Staatssekretär für europäische Angelegenheiten in den Regierungen Renzi und Gentiloni und 2019 Referent im Kabinett von Premierminister Édouard Philippe. Im selben Jahr wurde er auf der Renaissance-Liste zum Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments gewählt und sitzt in der Fraktion Renew Europe, wo er Mitglied sowohl im Ausschuss für konstitutionelle Fragen als auch im Ausschuss für Binnenmarkt und Verbraucherschutz ist. Gozi wurde im Dezember 2022 Koordinator der Fraktion Renew Europe im Ausschuss für konstitutionelle Fragen des Europäischen Parlaments. Er ist außerdem Vorsitzender der Union der Europäischen Föderalisten und tritt für eine transnationale Europapolitik ein. Er ist Autor zahlreicher Bücher und Artikel über Europa und unterrichtet an mehreren europäischen Universitäten.
