The European Democratic Party Secretary General Sandro Gozi went for a study trip to the United States. His first stop was in New York for a meeting with Melissa Fleming at the UN: they had fascinating exchange on online political advertising and an update on the new rules voted last week by the European Parliament. Followed by a panel discussion on the war against Hamas organised by J Street: EDP called for immediate release of hostages, respect for international law, common security, and called for working for peace and democracy.
March 20th, 2024, marked a significant event on the European political landscape. The Renew Europe Now campaign kick-off event, heralding a new electoral platform, brought together the – European Democrats and the other centrist forces . Held at the Musées royaux d’Art et d’Histoire in Brussels, Belgium, this event was more than just a meeting of minds; it was a clarion call to liberal, centrist, and democratic forces across Europe. Over 800 people were in attendance, underscoring the widespread interest in and support for the Renew Europe Now campaign.
After months of preparation, the time had finally come: on 8 March, our EDP Convention took place at Stazione Leopolda in Florence, where we were finally able to share our eagerly awaited manifesto with the world. With over 1000 guests in attendance, the event was a resounding success.
Nominated on 8th March as the European Democratic Party’s (EDP) top candidate, Sandro Gozi, the party’s current Secretary General and a member of the French delegation of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament since 2020, talks about the priorities of his campaign and those of the ‘Renew Europe Now’ platform that will be launched in Brussels on 20th March. Given the breakthrough of the far right predicted by recent polls, he believes that much of the election will be played out in Italy, where he still hopes that the Italian parties belonging to Renew Europe will form a united list. He also remains convinced that his political family will be represented in the EU’s top posts after the elections, recalling the group’s priorities on defence, the rule of law and enlargement.
On 15 May 2024, the EDP organised an event in Prague. The event entitled ‘Quo Vadis Europe?’ focused on three panels: one on security, one on migration and one on the role of women.
The EDP invites you to take part in this event focused on migration, asylum and refugees on the 23rd of February 2024 in Las Palmas (Gran Canaria).
The EDP will organise in Belfort a conference on Lebanon, and on the EU’s action in the Lebanese crisis, the role of local initiatives in strengthening this European action.
The EDP invites you to an exchange of ideas on the future of Europe from 9 to 11 February 2024 in Kassel (Hesse). All interested parties are invited, from pupils, students and employees to pensioners.
