The European Democratic Party (EDP) is looking for a Policy & Events trainee to support its political, policy and events activities.
The position is full-time, based at the EDP headquarters in Brussels, and will require occasional travel in Europe to attend meetings, seminars, and political events.
Main Tasks
- Assist in the preparation and follow-up of EDP political activities, working groups and internal meetings.
- Support the organisation of conferences, seminars, public debates and party events (logistics, coordination with partners, registration, on-site support).
- Conduct policy and political research on EU topics relevant to EDP priorities (e.g. democracy, rule of law, economic and social policies, green and digital transitions, etc.).
- Draft briefing notes, short summaries, minutes and background documents in English and/or French.
- Contribute to monitoring EU institutions’ work, including the European Parliament and other EU bodies.
- Liaise with member parties, partners and stakeholders.
- Support basic communication tasks linked to events (event descriptions, programmes, invitations, practical information notes).
- Provide general support to the Secretariat for administrative and organisational tasks.
Required Profile
- Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is essential.
- Spanish is a strong asset; other EU languages are an advantage.
- University degree (completed or ongoing) in political science, EU studies, international relations, law, economics, or related fields.
- Good knowledge of EU institutions and decision-making processes, and strong interest in European politics.
- Ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely.
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage several tasks in parallel and respect deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a small, multicultural team and in a political environment.
- Experience with political parties, youth movements, NGOs, or EU-related organisations is highly appreciated.
- Previous involvement in an EDP member party, parliamentary team or EDP Youth movement is a plus.
Practical Information
- Location: EDP Secretariat, Brussels (Belgium).
- Working languages: mainly English and French; Spanish an asset.
- Type of contract: Full-time traineeship.
- Duration: 6 months (1 February – 31 July 2026).
- Remuneration: 1 200 € / month (gross).
- Starting date: 1 February 2026.
