Born in Côte d'Ivoire to Martinican parents, Max Orville is Vice-Chairman of the delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (DACP). He is a member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) and the Special Committee on the Pandemic COVID-19: Lessons Learned and Recommendations for the Future (COVI), and is a substitute member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI). A teacher by trade, Orville began his career in Créteil, France, before becoming a school principal for 30 years in Martinique. Initiator of innovative pedagogical experiments, he set up a set of "life rhythms" for children, a major educational success. As a headstrong teacher, he joined the FSU Martinique, a branch of first French union for education, research and culture, and the first union of the state civil service. He became its general secretary from 2006 to 2009. His union commitment then turned into political commitment when he became president of the Mouvement Démocrate party in Martinique. Since the European elections of 2009, he has represented the republican and democratic values of the party in Martinique during several elections and with his fellow citizens in France and overseas.
