Ciaran Mullooly, 55, was until 2021 a journalist at RTE, the Irish public service broadcaster, where he was the RTÉ News Midlands correspondent for 26 years. Retired, he devoted himself to EU social inclusion programmes, promoting local tourism and then accepted the candidature focusing his campaign on the issues of a just ecological transition, socially sustainable migration and strong support for small and medium-sized enterprises. 'I would have always said I was a centrist,' he said in an interview in early June.

Senior members of the European Democratic Party have visited Dáil Éireann, the Irish Parliament, to strengthen ties with Independent Ireland. The delegation was joined by MEP Ciarán Mullooly, along with Independent Ireland TDs Michael Collins, Richard O’Donoghue, Ken O’Flynn, and Michael Fitzmaurice.

After more than a month, Georgians are fighting to re-establish the rule of law in their country and to respect the European promise. Faced with a lack of support from the European Union and other European countries, the mass demonstrations have run out of steam, but the desire for free, fair and equitable parliamentary elections remains.
