Protocol for the prevention, detection and combating of sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination

On 28 September 2026 the EDP Presidency adopted its protocol against sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination

For the European Democratic Party, equality between women and men and a safe, respectful political environment are the foundations of an open and truly European democracy.

Building on the Declaration of European Democrats on inclusive representation, signed in Bilbao in November 2025, the EDP Presidency adopted on 28 September 2026 a protocol to prevent, detect and combat sexual harassment and discrimination based on sex and gender. This includes discrimination based on gender identity and expression, pregnancy and family responsibilities.

The protocol applies to everyone who takes part in EDP activities, whatever their role. That means staff, members of our bodies, delegates of member parties, Congress participants, trainees, volunteers, consultants and service providers. It covers our offices, our events, travel and online communications.

Anyone who experiences or witnesses such conduct can report it at any time and in full confidentiality, through the internal or external channel of their choice. Every report is handled impartially and within clear deadlines, the right to be heard is guaranteed, and nobody who reports in good faith will face retaliation.

The full text and the reporting channels are available above. The French version of the protocol is the only authentic text; versions in other languages are provided for information purposes only.
