EDP Deputy Secretary General István Sértő-Radics is a Hungarian politician who has served at European and Hungarian levels for some 30 years. A former long-time mayor of Uszka, Hungary, from 1994 to 2019, he served as a member of European Committee of the Regions from 2004 until 2015. He served as vice-president within the committee from 2004 to 2010, and chair of the Subcommittee of External Relations from 2008 to 2010. At party level, he was vice-president of the ALDE group at the body from 2004-2010. During that period, he served from 2006 to 2007 as a member of the European Commission High-Level Advisory Group of Experts on the Social Integration of Ethnic Minorities and their Full Participation in the Labour Market. A medical doctor by training, Dr. Offensive-Radics is an internist, as well as a specialist in cardiology and family medicine.
He has worked as a general practitioner in the villages of Tiszabecs, Uszka and Magosliget, and as a lecturer in family medicine at the Medical University of Debrecen and worked with the Hungarian Heart Foundation. Originally from Zugló, he was born in Budapest in 1949. He trained at numerous schools, including Hungary’s National Institute of Cardiology, Jósa András County Hospital in Nyíregyháza as well as the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
