Adoption of the new logo
As part of the renewal of our party’s image, we have worked to design a new version of the EDP logo. The new logo proposal was prepared by our group of experts and approved by the Presidency and the Congress in Brussels on 6 december 2024.
This new logo clearly communicates who we are, what we stand for and our role in shaping the future of Europe. This logo is more than just a symbol: it is a powerful visual message, rich in meaning and references to our founding values.
The name: Clarity and identity
At the heart of the new logo is the name ‘Democrats’, a key element of our political identity. In Europe, in the United States, around the world. Direct, clear and universal, the name reflects our commitment to an inclusive, modern and forward-looking democracy. It is a unifying word that speaks to all European citizens and recalls the importance of a centrist force capable of driving change.
The colour orange: Energy and centrism
The dominant colour of the new logo is a vibrant orange, which is linked to energy, innovation and openness. Orange has historically been associated with political centrism, positioned midway between socialist red, representing a commitment to social justice and equality, and liberal yellow, synonymous with individual freedom, progress and economic development.
This choice perfectly embodies who we are as a political force: we seek balance and dialogue, always ready to find solutions to Europe’s challenges. It calls for inclusiveness and openness: it conveys empathy and proximity.
The 12 stars: A tribute to European values
A distinctive element of the logo is the presence of the 12 stars, positioned to symbolically evoke the circle of the European Union symbol. The number 12 represents perfection, completeness and harmony. They surround the main design, suggesting inclusion, unity and protection. They pay tribute to the principles of freedom, democracy and fundamental rights at the heart of the European project.
A symbol of the future and confidence
The new logo is not only a renewed visual identity, but also a statement of intent. It clearly expresses who we are and what we want to build: a united, strong and inclusive Europe. Where the role of democrats, European democrats, will be increasingly central. This logo will accompany our work to promote a progressive, people-centred political agenda capable of tackling global challenges with ambition and vision.
