Since 2019, Catherine Chabaud, MEP, has taken particular interest in visiting territories frequently to explain her action in the European Parliament, to bring up the concerns of her fellow citizens, and to mobilise the stakeholders, at local, national and European level. She wants to ensure that the sea is not forgotten.
This ambition is based on a strong conviction that Europe will be reborn through the sea, but also through its territories.
This evening debate on the 14th of October – the last before her participation in the Route du Rhum on the 6th of November – was an opportunity to look back at these two ambitions that she holds. Together with the co-chair of the French delegation to the Renew Europe group, Valérie Hayer, Catherine Chabaud discussed the latest achievements, in particular the adoption of the resolution on ocean governance: a major step forward for better integration of the sea in our European policies.
It is a personal challenge that Catherine Chabaud wishes to put at the service of maritime issues and in her mandate in the European Parliament. This is the meaning of the #ChallengeForTheOcean that she is launching.
