About me

Jean-Luc Crucke is a Belgian politician currently serving as the Minister of Mobility, Climate and Ecological Transition in the federal government. His political career spans over three decades, beginning in local politics as a municipal councilor in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing and progressing to regional roles in the Walloon Parliament and government. Crucke, a lawyer by profession, has held various positions including Mayor of Frasnes-lez-Anvaing and Walloon Minister. Initially a member of the Mouvement Réformateur (MR) party, he made headlines in early 2023 by joining Les Engagés, following his resignation as minister in January 2022 due to disagreements with his former party’s direction.

Joint statement on the 30th Anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide

Thirty years ago, in Srebrenica, more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were murdered by the Bosnian Serb army. In 2007, the International Court of Justice ruled that the atrocities constituted genocide. The wider Bosnian War saw over 100,000 killed, thousands of women raped, and more than two million people forced from their homes between 1992 and 1995. On this solemn occasion remembering one of the darkest chapters in Europe’s recent history, the ALDE Party, LIBSEEN members in the region, ALDE in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, European Democratic Party, Liberal International, LYMEC, Renew Europe in the Committee of the Regions, Renew Europe in the European Parliament, and the Young Democrats for Europe are united in honouring their memory and issue the following statement:

EDP takes centre stage at Renew Europe summit in Brussels

The European Democratic Party co-organised and played a central role in the summit that brought together heads of state and party leaders from our democratic, liberal and centrist family at the Maison de la Poste in Brussels on 26 June. Sandro Gozi, Secretary General of the EDP, led the delegation of democrats and contributed to the adoption of the joint declaration “Freedom on the offensive”, a clear and courageous response to the populist wave and the threats to democracy in Europe.
