In Zagreb, on the occasion of the upcoming elections for the European Parliament, the presentation of the manifesto of the European Democratic Party (EDP) was held.
The presentation was attended by other guests and invitees: Sandro Gozi – Secretary General of the European Democratic Party and Member of the European Parliament, Karl Erjavec – Vice President of the European Democratic Party, former Slovenian Minister, Valter Flego – Member of the European Parliament to the parliament and holder of the electoral list of 12 parties in the elections for the European Parliament (IDS), Radimir Čačić – president of the People’s Party – Reformists, Gabriela Bošnjak (HSLS), Krunoslav Lukačić (HNS) and Natalija Martinčević – vice-president of the People’s Party – Reformists.
It was pointed out that this was a historic moment for the liberal center in Croatian politics. High-ranking guests from Europe also confirmed that this is of crucial importance at this moment in the whole of Europe.
Il a également été souligné que la plus grande décentralisation possible était la principale exigence de ces partis et que les autorités régionales et locales devaient avoir un accès direct au financement de l'UE par le biais des fonds européens, afin d'empêcher le gouvernement central d'utiliser la forme bureaucratique pour ses objectifs politiques, c'est-à-dire pour filtrer et empêcher les projets des régions où l'opposition est au pouvoir. Cela a été un gros problème en Croatie et dans les pays en transition, mais aussi dans les démocraties développées.
Au cours de la discussion, il a également été souligné qu'il est nécessaire de défendre pleinement les droits et les besoins des personnes âgées, qui constituent le groupe de population le plus sensible à toutes les menaces, en particulier face au vieillissement de la population dans l'UE. Les orateurs ont également proposé des solutions concrètes pour répondre au problème croissant de l'accès à des logements abordables, qui s'amplifie en Croatie comme sur l'ensemble du territoire de l'Union.
