Catherine Chabaud is a pioneer in sustainable development. Her work in the European Parliament focuses on areas dear to her, such as ocean, environment, and climate. A member of the European Parliament since 2019, she serves as a member of the Committee on Development (DEVE) and as a substitute member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) and the Committee on Fisheries (PECH). 

A member of the Delegation for Relations with Palestine (DPAL), she also serves as a member of the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (DMED) and a substitute member of the Delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (DACP). From 2016 to 2017, she was a delegate for Sea and Coastal Affairs in France and member of the from 2010 to 2015 of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council of France. Born in 1962, she is the first woman to sail around the world, solo, non-stop and without assistance, during the Vendée Globe 1996-1997.
