Giuseppe Varacalli is an alternate member of the European Committee of the Regions. He has served on the committee since 2008. He is currently an official for the region of Calabria and has served as mayor and deputy mayor for the city of Gerace and as alderman for the Limina mountain community based in Mammola. Varacalli is a member of the National Assembly of Italia Viva and has gained party experience as a sectional, provincial, and regional leader.
As a member of the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, Varacalli has been a rapporteur on ECOS (Economic and Social Policies), CIVEX (Citizenship, Government, Institutional, and Foreign Affairs). As rapporteur, Varacalli worked on several draft opinions including "Internal Security in Europe," "Revitalization of the cultural and creative sectors in the post covid," legal migration-attracting skills and talents in the EU”. He was regional vice president of CO. GE. Volunteer Fund Management Committee for Calabria.
Varacalli is from Gerace and graduated from the Technical Commercial Institute of Siderno in which he practiced freelance in the insurance and tourism fields and was also a business consultant and continues to be a registered auditor.
