For Engin Eroglu, 40, the most ideal European Union is a free European Union that represents its citizens. A member of the European Parliament since 2019, Eroglu is a member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON). While in that role, he holds the principle of member state financial self-responsibility of highest importance and is working on reinforcing the no bail-out-principle. From the state of Hesse in western Germany, he serves as substitute member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) He is a member of the Delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee (D-TR), the Delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan, EU-Uzbekistan, and EU-Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and for relations with Turkmenistan and Mongolia (DCAS). He sits as a substitute for the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan (D-AF). A former self-employed entrepreneur and independent branch manager for Sparkassen-Immobilien-Vermittlungs -GmBH, Engin Eroglu knows banking and financing start-up businesses. He was shadow rapporteur in three European Parliament reports in 2021 on the European Central Bank and on a directive on credit servicers, credit purchasers, and the recovery of collateral. A member since 2012 of the German political party Freie Wähler, he served from 2014 to 2017 as deputy chair of the Freie Wähler Hessen regional party.
