Deputy Secretary General of EDP since 2021, Frédéric Petit was elected in 2017 as deputy to the French National Assembly by citizens of France living abroad in Germany, Central Europe, and the Balkans. Development and peace in the world achieved through Europe and through teaching and education are among his priorities during his term of office. A member of the National Assembly since 2017, and re-elected in 2022, has also served since 2017 on the Committee on Foreign Affairs, a vice-chair of the European Affairs committee, and as president of the France-Poland Friendship Group. He is also a mediator and adviser on France's foreign trade policy.
President of the France-Poland Friendship Group since 2017, he is a former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, serving from 2020 to 2022. A member of the Bureau since 2020, he serves on the working group on artificial intelligence and breakthrough innovations. He is a former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He has been since 2017 also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie and president of the France-Poland Friendship Group. He previously served as vice-chair of the French Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and has been a member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019.
Before being a politician, he spent 11 years as director of a community project for young people in a disadvantaged neighbourhood in Lorraine. An engineer by training, he successively held management positions in energy companies. He has lived in Cameroon, many Eastern European countries and Egypt. He speaks five languages and lives between Krakow and Paris.

The EDP invites you to an exchange of ideas on the future of Europe from 9 to 11 February 2024 in Kassel (Hesse). All interested parties are invited, from pupils, students and employees to pensioners.
The European Democratic Party held an insightful Congress on the 13th of October 2023, in the historic city of Mainz, Germany. Not only did delegations from Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria and many other countries have come together to attend this important event, but it also served as a breeding ground for fundamental debates and innovative proposals that address the pressing issues of our era.
The European Democratic Party will return to Guidel, France, on 29 September – 1 October 2023 for its annual “Europe Days”.
