An human resources expert, Sylvie Brunet, 63, promotes a social dimension of Europe. She is involved in employment and social dialogue issues and committed to improving the status of platform workers in Europe. Elected in 2019 a European Parliament member on the Mouvement Démocrate list, Brunet is a Renew Europe Group Vice-Coordinator for the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) and substitute member of the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM). From the Marseille area in southern France, she worked on the Erasmus project for apprentices and on the European Pillar of Social Rights after having chaired the consultation prior to the last apprenticeship reform requested by the French Minister of Labour. A former city councillor in Cassis and councillor for the Marseille Provence Métropole, she was an associate professor at the Kedge Business School in corporate social responsibility and human resources management. A lawyer by training, Sylvie Brunet chaired from 2015 to June 2019 the "Labour and Employment" section of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC) – the third assembly of the Republic. At local governmental level, Brunet was a member of both the Cassis Municipal Council and the Marseille Provence Council from 1995-2008. She again became a member of the Cassis Municipal Council in 2020.
