Der Besuch des Generalsekretärs der Europäischen Demokratischen Partei (EDP), Sandro Gozi, in der Republik Zypern ging heute zu Ende.
Dieser Besuch ist Teil der Arbeit der EDP zur Stärkung der Beziehungen zu allen demokratischen und zentristischen politischen Parteien in der Europäischen Union.
Während des zweitägigen Besuchs traf Sandro Gozi in Begleitung des EDP-Ehrenpräsidenten und ehemaligen zypriotischen Europaabgeordneten Nikos Koutsou, mit dem EDP-Einzelmitglied Pavlos Mylonas, dem Sprecher der zypriotischen Demokratischen Partei DIKO und Vertretern der Bürgerplattform, die Mitglied der EDP ist, zusammen. Später traf der EDP-Generalsekretär mit Christiana Erotokritou, der Vizepräsidentin der DIKO, und schließlich mit Nikos Christodoulides, dem Präsidenten der Republik Zypern, zu einem Gespräch zusammen.
“Our main mission”, said Sandro Gozi, “is certainly to consolidate the political space with Renew Europe, but alongside this – in a perspective of work that goes beyond 2024 – there is also the need to continue the dialogue with all democratic and centrist parties that, although belonging to other European political families, share values and objectives with us”.
„Ich danke dem Präsidenten der Republik, unserem Freund Christodoulides, für den netten Empfang“, fuhr Gozi fort. „Ein junger, neu gewählter Präsident, unabhängig und überzeugt pro-europäisch, der einer unserer bevorzugten europäischen Anführer bleibt: Wir erwarten ihn bald in Brüssel im Europäischen Parlament“.
