Sandro GOZI is a Member of the European Parliament for the Renew Europe Group since 2020. He is the Chair of the D-UK Delegation in the European Parliament. He is the coordinator of this group for the IMCO and AFCO Committee and also a substitute member of the REGI and EUDS Committee. Sandro GOZI is also the Secretary General of the European Democratic Party and the President of the Spinelli Group. A former Italian diplomat, Sandro Gozi joined the cabinet of Romano Prodi, then President of the European Commission, in 1999. Elected to the Italian Parliament in 2006, he was appointed advisor on European affairs to the President of the Italian Council of Ministers. From 2006 to 2008 he chaired the Italian Parliament's bicameral Commission on Schengen and Immigration. He was also head of the Italian Parliamentary Delegation for relations with India. In 2013 he became President of the Italian Delegation to the Council of Europe and Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In 2014 he was appointed Secretary of State for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Delegate for European Affairs of the Renzi and Gentiloni governments. Since 2018 he has been President of the Union of European Federalists. In July 2019, he joined the cabinet of French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe as a special advisor. He joined the European Parliament in February 2020, after Brexit, and was re-elected in 2024 on the French list Besoin d'Europe in 6th place. He is a full member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO), the Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) and the Delegation for relations with India. He is a substitute member of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) and the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS). Among his parliamentary responsibilities, he also chairs the EU Delegation to the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly (D-UK). He has authored several books, including "Génération Erasmus: ils sont déjà au pouvoir" (Plon, Paris, 2016), "L'urgence européenne" (with Marielle de Sarnez, Thaddée, Paris, 2014), "Non ! ce n'est pas la faute à Bruxelles" (Le Manuscrit, Paris, 2007). In September 2020, he published a book entitled "La cible" on the challenges of his "transnational" career (Éditions Saint-Simon, Paris).
