Job offer: Events & Policy Trainee

The European Democratic Party (EDP / PDE) is looking for an Events & Policy Trainee to support the organisation of its events and political activities.

The position is full-time, based at the EDP Secretariat in Brussels, and will require occasional travel in Europe to attend meetings, seminars, and political events.

Main Tasks

  • Support the organisation of conferences, seminars, public debates, congresses and party events: logistics, coordination with suppliers and venues, participants' registration, travel/accommodation arrangements, on-site support.
  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of EDP political activities, working groups, Presidency, Bureau and other internal meetings, including notes and minutes.
  • Contribute to event-related communication: event descriptions, programmes, invitations, practical information notes and on-site coverage, in coordination with the Communications team.
  • Liaise with member parties, partners, speakers and suppliers before and during events.
  • Conduct policy and political research on EU topics relevant to EDP priorities (democracy, rule of law, economic and social policies, green and digital transitions, etc.), notably to support event programming and briefings.
  • Draft briefing notes, summaries, minutes and background documents in English and/or French.
  • Contribute to monitoring the work of EU institutions, including the European Parliament, identifying opportunities relevant to EDP's events and activities.
  • Provide general support to the Secretariat for administrative and organisational tasks.

Required Profile

  • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is essential.
  • Spanish is a strong asset; knowledge of other EU languages is an advantage.
  • University degree (completed or ongoing) in political science, EU studies, international relations, communication, event management, or related fields.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage several tasks and deadlines in parallel, including under the pressure of live events.
  • Good knowledge of EU institutions and decision-making processes, and interest in European politics.
  • Ability to summarise complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Comfortable working in a small, multicultural team and in a political environment.
  • Experience with political parties, youth movements, NGOs, or EU-related organisations — including event organisation — is highly appreciated.
  • Previous involvement in an EDP member party, a parliamentary team or the EDP Youth movement is a plus.

Practical Information

  • Location: EDP Secretariat, Brussels (Belgium).
  • Working languages: mainly English and French; Spanish an asset.
  • Type of contract: Full-time traineeship.
  • Duration: 6 months.
  • Remuneration: €1,200/month.
  • Starting date: 17 August 2026.
