Story

50PLUS is a Dutch political party founded in 2009 with a clear and distinctive purpose: to give a strong political voice to older citizens and to the principle of fairness between the generations. Born from the conviction that the interests of seniors were too often overlooked, it has grown into a recognised presence in Dutch political life and a defender of social pragmatism within the democratic centre.

At the heart of 50PLUS's project lies the protection of pensions, accessible and affordable healthcare, and dignity in old age — together with a broader concern for solidarity between younger and older generations. It approaches politics in a practical, non-ideological spirit, focused on concrete answers to the real concerns of citizens rather than on partisan division.

Within the European Democratic Party, which it joined in 2023, 50PLUS embodies a conviction at the core of the EDP's vision: that a society is judged by the pact between its generations, and that a Europe attentive to demographic change — to ageing, to pensions, to intergenerational fairness — is a Europe truly close to its citizens.
